FabPro 2i is a direct-to-fabric printing machine built for high-volume fashion, garment, and home textile manufacturers. Made in India with Ricoh Gen 6 industrial printheads and an 8-colour ink setup, it prints vibrant designs directly onto fabric at up to 250 linear metres an hour, with automatic maintenance and head crash protection for uninterrupted production.

Fabric Preparation and Post-Printing Process

Direct to fabric printing needs preparation before printing and finishing after it. The exact steps depend on the fabric and the ink.

Before printing: fabric is pretreated so the ink fixes properly and prints sharply. FabPro 2i handles fabrics from 30 to 450 gsm.

After printing:

Real-World Production Capacity of a Direct to Fabric Printing Machine

FabPro 2i has two speed figures: up to 150 lm/hr standard and up to 250 lm/hr maximum.

Speed

Per Hour

8-Hour Shift

24 Hours

Standard

Per Hour: 150 lm

8-Hour Shift: 1,200 lm

24 Hours: 3,600 lm

Maximum

Per Hour: 250 lm

8-Hour Shift: 2,000 lm

24 Hours: 6,000 lm

Maximum speed is best for bi-directional printing on lighter designs where speed matters most. Standard speed is the everyday production setting, balancing speed with print quality. Single-direction printing, dense fabrics and dark, full-coverage designs all slow output further. Real daily output also depends on roll changes, design changes and maintenance time.

Production Setup and Auxiliary Equipment

FabPro 2i takes fabric rolls up to 400 mm in diameter and 200 kg, runs on neoStampa RIP software and holds 15 litres of ink.

Before installation, plan for:

  • Floor space for the machine, fabric feeding and collection, and roll storage

  • Stable power with voltage stabilisation and backup

  • Pretreatment equipment before printing

  • Finishing equipment: a steamer and washer for reactive and acid inks, or heat fixation for disperse

  • Operator training, which Orange O Tec provides at installation

Our team shares exact dimensions and power requirements during site planning.

Print Quality on Long Production Runs

On long runs, quality problems usually come from three sources: colour drift, nozzle dropouts and fabric problems. FabPro 2i is designed to address all three. Its uninterrupted ink supply keeps ink flow steady, so colour stays consistent across the full fabric width from the first metre to the last. Automatic capping and wiping keep nozzles clean between jobs. Sensor-based head crash protection stops fabric obstructions from damaging heads mid-run.

On the floor, operators should check nozzles at the start of every shift and compare printed colour against an approved sample at regular intervals.

Maintenance and Printhead Protection

FabPro 2i protects its Ricoh Gen 6 printheads in three ways:

  • Sensor-based head crash protection detects raised fabric or obstructions before they hit the heads

  • Automatic capping seals the heads when idle so ink doesn’t dry in the nozzles

  • Automatic wiping cleans the nozzle plates to keep printing sharp

For routine maintenance, run a nozzle check every shift, clean the heads when nozzles drop out, keep the print blanket clean and keep the ink tank topped up.
